Agartala, July 21, 2025: A horrific crime has rocked Gomati district, where a 13-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by her 35-year-old father Bijoy Singh Jamatia in a forested area near Amarpur subdivision. The incident took place on Saturday has sparked widespread anger and calls for justice across the region.

According to authorities at Birganj Police Station, the accused lured his daughter from their home under the guise of collecting rations. Instead, he allegedly took her to a secluded forest area and assaulted her, later threatening her to stay silent.

The minor confided in her mother late Saturday night after showing signs of severe distress. On Sunday, she was rushed to Amarpur Sub-divisional Hospital, where medical staff, suspecting abuse, promptly notified the police.

A case was registered under Case No. 27/25, with charges filed under sections 64(2)(f)(2), 65(1), 351(2) of BNS-2023, and section 4(2) of the POCSO Act. Jamatia was arrested and presented before a court on Monday, where he remains in custody as investigations continue.

The incident has ignited fury among community leaders, activists, and residents, who are demanding swift and stringent legal action to ensure justice for the young victim. Authorities have assured full support to the girl and her family during this traumatic time.
