Agartala, July 21, 2025: A man from the Khadimpur area of East Fulbari in North Tripura has filed a police complaint against his wife, accusing her of sharing obscene images and making derogatory remarks against a religion on social media.

The complaint, lodged at Churaibari Police Station by one Sabul Miah, alleges that his wife, Hajira Begum, not only defamed him online but also misused his social media account to post offensive content targeting Sanatan Dharma. The case has since been forwarded to the Cyber Cell for investigation.

According to Sabul, the incident began on June 21 when his wife allegedly fled to Silchar with Rs 20,000 in cash and two mobile phones from his shop. Following this, he filed a formal complaint at the local police station.

In a fresh complaint submitted on Monday, Sabul claimed that after his initial report, Hajira began uploading obscene photos and inflammatory religious content using his Facebook credentials, resulting in backlash from the local community. He further alleged that she had been conspiring against him with the help of some YouTubers based in Silchar.

Acting on the latest complaint, police have seized one of the mobile phones and sent it to the Dharmanagar Cyber Cell for forensic examination. Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to verify the allegations and determine the authenticity of the social media activities.
