Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday described the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as “sudden and shocking” and called on the Union government to clarify whether it had prior intimation of the development.
In a post on his official X handle, Gogoi wrote, “The resignation of the Hon’ble Vice President is both sudden and shocking. I wish good health to respected Dhankar ji. But it is for the Union government to clarify if they had prior intimation and have planned for a smooth transition.”
He also pointed to the absence of senior ministers at a meeting chaired by the Vice President a day before the resignation, saying it now “carries even more significance.”
