Guwahati, July 23: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday reiterated that eviction drives across the state will continue until every inch of illegally encroached land is recovered.
BJP spokesperson Kalyan Gogoi stated that the ongoing operations are not merely administrative procedures but a broader effort to safeguard the future of Assam and protect the rights of indigenous communities. He said the drive, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is focused on preserving the state’s identity, culture, language, and political rights.
Gogoi accused previous Congress governments of contributing to demographic changes through “planned encroachments” and “migration,” which he claimed altered the composition of several electoral constituencies.
He noted that the current government’s actions have restored hope among indigenous communities and praised the Chief Minister’s firm stance on the issue.
Citing the legacy of past leaders who worked to protect land rights, Gogoi said the present administration is continuing that mission through legal and administrative measures.
The Assam BJP affirmed that the eviction drives will remain an ongoing part of the state’s policy to safeguard government and tribal lands from illegal occupation.
