CWGC Team Conducts Survey Of WWII Sites In Arunachal District

A delegation from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), based in the United Kingdom, carried out a survey of World War II-era sites in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, officials said on Friday.

The team, led by CWGC’s regional head for the Indian subcontinent, Amit Bansal, inspected several historically significant locations on Thursday. These included the World War II cemetery, Laal Pool, Hamilton Bridge, Hell Gate, and a stretch of the Old Stilwell Road leading to Pangsau Pass.

According to an official statement, the visit was aimed at assessing the current state of these sites with a view to preserving and upgrading them in line with Commonwealth heritage standards.
