Security forces arrested three active cadres of the proscribed militant outfits Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and RPF/PLA during separate operations conducted on July 24 and 25 in Imphal West and Thoubal districts.

On July 24, a KCP (PWG) operative, Sorokhaibam Inaocha Singh alias Romesh (47), was apprehended from his residence at Salam Mamang Leikai under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West. He was allegedly involved in organized extortion campaigns across the region. Security personnel recovered three mobile handsets, a PAN card, five extortion notes with the KCP (PWG) letterhead, and two seal stamps marked “KCP (PWG)” and “Revenue Officer (RO)” from his possession.

On July 25, in a separate operation, a female cadre of RPF/PLA, identified as Oinam Ranjita Devi alias Erai Leima (38), was arrested from her home in Oinam Sawombung Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district. As per intelligence inputs, she was engaged in extorting money from educational institutions, school transport associations, businesses, and shopkeepers in the valley. Items seized from her include three mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and documents related to extortion, including notepads containing names and contact information of victims.

Later the same day, another RPF/PLA cadre, Ahanthem Surjit Singh (29) of Wangjing SK Leikai, was arrested from Leirongthel Pitra under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal district. He is reportedly involved in monetary extortion, recruitment of new cadres, and issuing threats to residents and business owners in the area.

All three individuals are currently in custody and are being interrogated to uncover further details about the extortion networks and recruitment operations of their respective militant organizations.
