Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang Inaugurates New Police Outpost In Deorali

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed police outpost at Deorali in Gangtok.

The Chief Minister was received by Arun Kumar Upreti, Minister for Rural Development and Cooperation, and Bhoj Raj Rai, Minister for Urban Development and Food and Civil Supplies.

The new police outpost has been built to address infrastructure limitations of the previous facility, which lacked adequate space and essential amenities. Construction of the new building began on November 29, 2022, and was completed on December 22, 2024.

The two-and-a-half-storey outpost covers an area of 1,250 sq ft. Key features include a parking yard, single window, and sentry post on the ground floor. The first and second floors house the Outpost IC Room, Second IC Room, staff room, separate holding cells for male and female detainees, kitchen pantry, dormitory, and sanitation facilities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Speaker MN Sherpa, cabinet ministers, area MLAs, advisors, Director General of Police, Secretary of Urban Development Department, chairpersons, DC Gangtok, DIGP Gangtok Range and CID, senior officials, SP Gangtok, councillors, and other departmental representatives.
