Meghalaya’s Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) has issued a public advisory warning that legal action will be taken against owners of houses and vehicles if their properties are found to be involved in drug trafficking.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Giri Prasad, who also heads the ANTF, stated that under Section 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, knowingly allowing one’s premises or vehicle to be used for drug-related activities is a punishable offence and is treated as direct involvement in the crime.
The police have urged all owners to remain alert and report any suspicious activity involving their properties or vehicles to the nearest police station or the State ANTF office.
