Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday said the state is emerging as a horticulture powerhouse in the country, citing significant achievements and the launch of the Horticulture Policy 2025–35.
Taking to his official X handle, Khandu highlighted key milestones in the sector, stating that the hard work of farmers—from the hills of Dambuk to the orchards of Ziro—is driving the state’s success.
Arunachal Pradesh has become the top producer of kiwi in India with over 7,000 metric tonnes (MT) and is the first state in the country to receive organic certification for kiwi. The state also ranks second in mandarin orange production with 84,000 MT and leads the Northeast Region in large cardamom production with 4,467 MT. Notably, oranges from Dambuk are now being exported to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Chief Minister said the newly introduced Horticulture Policy 2025–35 aims to further strengthen the sector by promoting sustainability, ensuring dignity for farmers, and expanding opportunities in domestic and international markets.
