Agartala, July 31, 2025: In the wake of a recent attack on BJP workers during the broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baatprogram, a high-level delegation from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited the Asarambari Assembly Constituency in Tripura’s Khowai district on Wednesday.
The BJP delegation comprising Ministers, MLAs and Members of District Councils alleged that supporters of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) were behind the assault. The attack reportedly took place on Sunday, leaving several BJP karyakartas injured, some of whom are still undergoing treatment.
Addressing the media, senior BJP leader Rampada Jamatia expressed deep concern over the incident. “This was a targeted assault during the Mann Ki Baat event. Those who earlier supported CPIM and later shifted to the Tipra Motha Party after the BJP came to power are behind the attack,” he claimed.
Calling the violence “tribal versus tribal,” Jamatia urged the Central Government to take serious note of the recurring regional hostilities. “We had faced similar aggression from IPFT in 2018. The Central leadership, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, must consider putting an end to such divisive politics and work towards lasting peace,” he added.

The delegation met the injured party workers and assured them of full support from the BJP. Jamatia also accused TMP MLA and current minister Animesh Debbarma’s supporters of being directly involved in the assault. “We will apprise the Chief Minister of all details. The law must take its course,” he said.
Minister Santana Chakma, who was part of the delegation, strongly condemned the incident. “Several of our workers are hospitalized due to this unprovoked attack. We want to send a clear message—those behind this act will not be spared. We will continue to protest such violence in a peaceful and democratic manner,” she stated.
Former MP Rebati Tripura also denounced the incident, calling the attack “deeply condemnable.”
The delegation concluded its visit by meeting Khowai District Superintendent of Police, Randitya Das and urged swift legal action against the perpetrators.
