Agartala, July 31, 2025: Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation by Tripura Police and BSF led to the seizure of a luxury vehicle and over ₹1 crore worth of Yaba tablets, resulting in the arrest of three non-local individuals in the early hours of Thursday.
The operation was conducted near Mohoram Ali School under Bansh Pukur Panchayat in the jurisdiction of Jatrapur Police Station, when officers intercepted a numberless red luxury car parked on a school ground. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities recovered 14,000 Yaba tablets.
Sensing police presence, the suspects initially attempted to escape by hiding in a nearby house. After a thorough search, police apprehended three individuals identified as Sarfaraz Ahmed, Yuber Ahmed, and Nazrul Islam. They are currently being interrogated.
Jatrapur’s newly appointed Officer-in-Charge, Siti Kantha Bardhan, led the late-night operation, assisted by Sub-Inspectors Bijay Chakraborty, Amar Debbarma, Pritam Dutta, Rumi Akhtar and several constables. BSF support was provided by Shalpukur Camp personnel.
Authorities revealed that the intercepted vehicle lacked valid documentation and registration, prompting further investigation into possible connections to a wider drug trafficking network. Police and BSF stated that such operations will continue to ensure a drug-free society.
Local residents have welcomed the prompt action and praised the police’s efficiency under OC Bardhan’s leadership, marking the raid as a significant achievement in the district’s anti-narcotics efforts.
