Agartala, August 02, 2025: In a major boost to farmers’ welfare, a total of ₹45.43 crore was disbursed to the bank accounts of 2.84 lakh farmers in Tripura on Saturday under the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
The state-level event was held at the State Agricultural Research Centre in Arundhatinagar, Agartala, where Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha led the symbolic fund transfer ceremony. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath was also present on the occasion.
The Tripura event was part of a nationwide program, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking from Banuali in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, officially released ₹20,500 crore to benefit over 9.70 crore farmers across India through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Addressing the gathering in Agartala, Dr. Saha lauded the PM-KISAN scheme as a “game-changer” in Indian agriculture. “Today’s transfer of ₹45.43 crore directly to the accounts of 2.84 lakh farmers in Tripura is a testimony to the Centre’s and state’s shared commitment to the farming community,” he stated.
He further noted that the scheme has significantly eased the financial strain on small and marginal farmers and has strengthened public confidence in the government’s ability to deliver benefits transparently and efficiently.
Introduced in 2019 by Prime Minister Modi, the PM-KISAN scheme provides ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers in three equal installments to support agricultural expenditure and input procurement.
Officials highlighted that the smooth disbursement of the 20th installment once again showcases the effectiveness of digital governance in ensuring timely and corruption-free delivery of benefits to India’s food growers.
