Agartala, August 02, 2025: A man lost his life in a tragic train accident near Tripura’s Kalacherra railway station under South district in the early hours of Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Laxman Chandra Das, 52, son of Dhirendra Chandra Das and a resident of Kalibazar SC Colony.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place around 12:30 am when a passenger train, which had departed Agartala at 10:50 pm for Sabroom, was passing through the area adjacent to Kalacherra Thailiktuisa station. Laxman Das was reportedly crushed under the train and died on the spot.

Following the incident, local residents and the railway police rushed to the site and recovered the body. Authorities have sent the body for post-mortem examination.

A wave of sorrow swept through the area upon hearing the news. Police have launched an investigation to determine whether the incident was an accident or a case of suicide.
