Agartala, August 04, 2025: Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, M. Riaz Hamidullah, wrapped up his three-day official visit to Tripura and departed for New Delhi this afternoon.
During his stay from August 1 to 3, the envoy engaged in a series of high-level meetings and visits aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring economic opportunities between Bangladesh and Northeast India.
On August 2, Hamidullah met Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in Agartala. Discussions centered around deepening traditional cross-border ties and tapping into the economic potential of the region. In a social media post following the meeting, he expressed satisfaction over the exchange, highlighting the shared commitment to regional cooperation.
Earlier, on August 1, the High Commissioner was received at M.B.B. Airport and began his itinerary by paying tribute at Albert Ekka Park. He also visited the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
On Sunday, Hamidullah called on Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu. Both dignitaries reportedly discussed avenues to enhance people-to-people connections between Bangladesh and the Northeast. The envoy later described the meeting as an opportunity to strengthen cross-border friendship.
The High Commissioner also made field visits to key trade infrastructure points, including the Agartala Integrated Check Post and the Akhaura Land Port, reflecting Bangladesh’s interest in facilitating regional trade and connectivity.
His visit highlights the growing emphasis on sub-regional diplomacy and economic engagement between Bangladesh and India’s Northeast.
