Nagaland has officially proposed to co-host the Wrestling discipline at the 39th National Games, scheduled to be held in February 2027 in Meghalaya. The proposal was discussed during a meeting of the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) held on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by NOA President and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who also reviewed the state’s ongoing sports development initiatives. Key upcoming events were discussed, including the North East Games, which were initially scheduled for October this year but have now been postponed to early 2026 in Tripura.
The meeting further deliberated on preparations for major tournaments such as the UWW Alysh Belt Wrestling & Naga Wrestling World Championship and the inaugural Dr. T. Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship.
