Agartala, August 08, 2025: Tripura Transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting at Conference Hall of the State Secretariat to assess the progress of the government’s directive in painting the front panels of all metered auto-rickshaws operating within the Agartala Municipal Area in pink color, aimed at better identification and regulation.
In the meeting, Secretary of the Transport Department, the Transport Commissioner, Inspector General (Law and Order), senior officials from the Police and Traffic departments, top officials of the Transport Department and representatives from various labor organizations operating in Agartala and its suburban areas were present.
During the review, Minister Chowdhury sought detailed updates on the status of implementation and expressed concern over the delays in executing the directive. He emphasized the importance of uniformity and visibility in public transport vehicles for passenger safety and operational transparency.
Alongside this agenda, the minister took note of the various issues and demands raised by the labor organizations. He directed the departmental officers to take prompt and effective steps to address the grievances of the auto-rickshaw drivers and transport workers.
“The problems of our labor brothers must be addressed with urgency and empathy,” Minister Chowdhury asserted, instructing officials to prioritize the resolution of long-standing issues affecting the workforce.
The meeting concluded with an assurance from the minister that the state government is committed to improving the conditions of transport workers while ensuring the efficiency and safety of the public transport system in Agartala.
