Agartala, August 13, 2025: Tripura University’s Central Library has taken a major step toward modernization with the launch of a state-of-the-art Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Automated System, aimed at enhancing efficiency, security, and user experience. The system was inaugurated today by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain in the presence of university officials, faculty, staff, and students.
Speaking at the inauguration, Prof. Prasain praised the library’s initiative to integrate advanced technology into its operations. “The introduction of RFID technology will revolutionize the way our library functions. This step is aligned with our vision to provide world-class facilities and to promote a smart, efficient, and technology-driven academic environment,” he said. He noted that the system would save time, improve resource management, and benefit both students and researchers.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Registrar Dr. Deepak Sharma, Deans Prof. Vinnod Mishra and Prof. Sukhenhu Debbarma, the Directors of IQAC and RDC, as well as heads of departments and other faculty members. Demonstrations of the RFID self-check-in/check-out system and security gates were conducted for the audience.
Central Library staff expressed their gratitude to the administration, highlighting that the system would reduce manual workload and align services with global best practices. “The RFID-based automated system introduces cutting-edge technology to streamline library operations, including self-check-in/check-out, real-time inventory tracking, anti-theft mechanisms, and faster book retrieval,” said University Librarian Dr. Champeswar Mishra. “This upgrade aligns with the university’s vision of fostering a digitally empowered academic environment.”
