Arunachal: Block-Level Training On Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0 Held In Kyidphel

A block-level training programme on the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 and Localisation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held in Kyidphel Block, Tawang District, Arunachal Pradesh. The training took place at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Tawang, and was organised by the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR) in collaboration with the District Panchayati Raj Department, Tawang.

The session was chaired by Namgyal Angmo, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tawang, and attended by ZPC Tawang Leki Gombu, Assistant Director SIRD Mihin Lali, DPDO Tawang Sangey Wangmu Mosobi, Member Secretary PR Kitpi Tsering Chedon, ZPMs, and all PRI members of the block.

In her inaugural address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of PAI as a tool for planning, transparency, and performance assessment of Gram Panchayats. She noted that Tawang District currently ranks fifth at the state level in Panchayat performance and encouraged stakeholders to work collectively to improve rankings.

ZPC Tawang, Leki Gombu, emphasised the significance of the training for officials, who guide both current and future Panchayat members, and expressed gratitude to SIRD&PR and PRI members for their participation.

Assistant Director SIRD, Mihin Lali, outlined the objectives of PAI, stressing its role in assessing advancement levels and bridging development gaps through accurate data collection. DPDO Tawang, Sangey Wangmu Mosobi, urged the submission of authentic data to ensure a reliable record of Panchayat performance.

The training aimed to enhance Panchayat performance, align local governance with SDG themes, and promote inclusive, participatory rural development in the region.
