Agartala, August 15, 2025: Tripura joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the 79th Independence Day with grandeur, unity, and patriotic spirit on Friday. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha unfurled the National Flag at the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala, inspected the parade, and took the salute from contingents of the Tripura Police, TSR, NCC, and school students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said, “This is not just a day to remember our freedom fighters, but also a day to commit ourselves to building a stronger, self-reliant India. We must work together with discipline, honesty, and dedication for the progress of our state and nation.”
The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s development initiatives across infrastructure, healthcare, education, and employment. “In the past few years, Tripura has made significant strides in connectivity, economic growth, and welfare schemes. Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of development reach every citizen, especially those in rural and remote areas,” he stated.
Dr. Saha also called upon the youth to contribute positively towards nation-building. “The young generation is the torchbearer of our democracy. Their energy, creativity, and patriotism will shape the India of tomorrow,” he remarked.
The celebrations featured cultural performances by schoolchildren, patriotic songs, and tableaux showcasing the state’s achievements. Gallantry awards and commendations were also presented to police and government personnel for their exemplary service.
Security was tightened across the state to ensure peaceful celebrations, with the Tripura Police and other agencies maintaining strict vigilance.
