Agartala, August 16, 2025: Tension gripped the Mohanpur Primary Health Center on Saturday morning after the death of a patient, whose family members alleged gross negligence on the part of the doctors and staff.

According to the complaint, Dipankar Debnath, a resident of Jagatpur area under Mohanpur, was rushed to the health center with severe breathing problems early in the morning. His son alleged that despite the emergency, there was no oxygen facility available at the hospital.

“My father was struggling to breathe, but the oxygen could not be arranged. A junior doctor saw him but failed to operate the oxygen. Moreover, there was no senior doctor present to write a referral to GB Hospital. We helplessly watched him collapse before our eyes,” the grieving son said.

The family further claimed that the absence of timely medical intervention and the lack of basic facilities like oxygen led to Dipankar Debnath’s death. Following the incident, tension prevailed at the health center premises as angry relatives expressed outrage over the alleged negligence.

Health authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations.
