Labourer Swept Away While Crossing River In Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap, Search Underway

A labourer went missing after being swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross a river near R K Mission School in Deomali, Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, officials said on Sunday.

The missing individual has been identified as Bappon Mahato, a resident of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. Reports stated that Mahato, along with five others, tried to wade through the river on Saturday. While the others reached the shore safely, Mahato was carried away by the powerful current and has not been found since.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has launched a search and rescue operation to locate the missing labourer.
