The Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, has extended warm greetings to the Nepali-speaking community across the world on the occasion of Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas.
In his message, the Governor noted that August 20 marks the historic inclusion of the Nepali language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution in 1992. He said the day reflects the long struggle of Indian Nepali-speaking people to assert their cultural and linguistic identity within the Indian Union.
Governor Mathur also acknowledged the contributions of former Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari and former Lok Sabha MP Dil Kumari Bhandari for their key roles in achieving this milestone. He called for continued efforts to promote and enrich the Nepali language.
The Governor concluded by wishing everyone a Happy Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas.
