Agartala, August 26, 2025: Tripura witnessed a spirited start to Ganesh Puja celebrations on Tuesday, with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurating puja pandals of Vignaharta Samajik Sangstha and Ekadanta Samajik Sangstha. Marking the occasion, voluntary blood donation camps were also organized.
Greeting the donors, Dr. Saha said such initiatives “reflect the true essence of humanity” and should extend beyond professional duties. He added that festivals should inspire acts of social service and collective responsibility.
Highlighting the festival’s cultural rise in Tripura, the Chief Minister remarked, “Historically, Ganesh Puja was a rare sight here. But after the BJP-led government came to power, celebrations have expanded significantly. Today, pujas are organized enthusiastically by clubs, organizations, and even households, reflecting a cultural revival rooted in faith and unity.”
Dr. Saha also underlined the spiritual importance of Lord Ganesh in Hindu tradition, noting that the deity is worshipped before any auspicious work as per Sanatan Dharma. He stressed that puja celebrations now symbolize both devotion and social harmony, transcending caste, creed, and religion.
Reflecting on India’s heritage, he said, “Despite centuries of foreign rule, the core values of Sanatan Dharma remain unchanged. Festivals like Ganesh Puja embody those values and turn into platforms for public service.”
The Chief Minister urged social organizations to work year-round for the welfare of society, not just during festivals. He emphasized the need to make Tripura a drug-free and socially responsible state, saying, “Just as blood donation has become a festival, let us all work together to cleanse our society and uplift our people.”
The event was also attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, corporators, and other dignitaries who joined in the celebrations and supported the blood donation initiative.
