17-Year-Old Girl Goes Missing In Meghalaya, Police Suspect Abduction

Meghalaya Police have launched a search operation after 17-year-old Ribaiahun Marngar went missing from Permadan village under suspicious circumstances. Authorities suspect that the girl may have been abducted.

According to the Superintendent of Police, Marngar was last seen on August 15 at around 10 a.m. at a shop where she worked. Thomborlang Sohphoh of Umdum village has been identified as the prime suspect, but his current whereabouts remain unknown.

The case has been registered as Mairang Police Station Case No. 81(8)2025 under Section 137(1)(b)(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

A photograph of the missing girl has been circulated to assist in the search. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward, assuring strict confidentiality.
