Agartala, August 26, 2025: In a heartening display of integrity, Tripura’s auto-rickshaw driver Sujit Debnath has earned widespread praise after returning a lost handbag containing cash, gold jewelry and important documents to its rightful owner.

It is reported that, Debnath was ferrying passengers late last night when he found a woman’s handbag left behind in his vehicle after dropping off two to three passengers. Suspecting it was forgotten by one of them, he immediately contacted local journalists for assistance.

With their help, Debnath handed over the bag to West Police Station the same night. News of the lost item quickly spread across social media and local news outlets. By morning, the rightful owner, having seen the reports, arrived at the station and reclaimed her belongings after police verification.

The woman overwhelmed with gratitude said she had lost hope of ever recovering the bag. “I never imagined I’d get it back, let alone with everything intact. Thanks to Sujit Debnath’s honesty and the media’s support, I have it all,” she said.
