Assam’s Bhavna Gogoi secured the gold medal in the 58 kg youth category at the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Ahmedabad. She lifted a total of 162 kg, with 69 kg in snatch and 93 kg in clean and jerk.

For context, the 2025 Youth World Championship in the 59 kg category saw the bronze medal won with a lift of 189 kg.

Assam Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa congratulated Bhavna on X, saying, “Congratulations, this time it’s Assam’s Weightlifting where Bhavna Gogoi has clinched Gold in the ongoing Youth Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship held at Ahmedabad.”
