Agartala, August 27, 2025: In a major arms recovery operation, Tripura police unearthed four sophisticated pistols from the residence of Dipankar Sen in Uttar Madhyapara, Amtali in West district late Tuesday night.
Acting on a confidential tip-off, Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das of Amtali Police Station led a joint raid with TSR personnel, cordoning off the premises before conducting a thorough search.
During the operation, officers excavated a section of the floor inside Sen’s house and discovered the concealed firearms. The recovery prompted an immediate visit from West Tripura Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, who oversaw the scene and briefed the media later that night.
“We recovered four small arms and seven magazines from inside the house,” SP Pathak confirmed, adding that forensic experts were called in to examine the weapons and collect samples for further analysis A.
Dipankar Sen, currently in judicial custody in connection with a separate arms-related case, is suspected to have hidden the weapons prior to his arrest. Sources indicate that Sen had long been involved in illegal arms dealings, and the cache may be linked to a broader network.
Following the recovery, police registered a fresh case under the Arms Act against Sen at Amtali Police Station. The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents, especially as it coincided with Enforcement Directorate raids in other parts of the state earlier the same day.
Authorities have intensified their investigation to trace the origin of the weapons and determine whether they were intended for distribution or use in criminal activities.
