Chingakham Naoba Singh of Yairipok Yambem, Imphal East district, has been appointed as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the Manipur Police Department in recognition of the supreme sacrifice made by his brother, Late Deepak Chingakham, a Vir Chakra awardee and BSF personnel who laid down his life during Operation Sindoor.

Late Deepak Chingakham, serving with the Border Security Force, was posthumously honoured with the Vir Chakra, one of India’s highest wartime gallantry awards, for his exemplary courage and devotion to duty in the operation. His bravery continues to inspire the people of Manipur and the nation.

The state government’s decision to induct his younger brother, Chingakham Naoba Singh, into the police force is seen as a gesture to honour the martyr’s legacy while acknowledging the family’s sacrifice for the country.
