Agartala, September 02, 2025: The Pradesh BJP on Monday staged a massive protest rally in the capital, condemning alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother by Congress and RJD leaders, and accusing the CPI(M)-Congress of running a “malicious misinformation campaign” against the ruling party.

The rally, which later turned into a dharna in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhawan, saw the participation of senior BJP leaders including state president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, SC Welfare and ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, BJP General Secretary Amit Rakshit, Secretary Devid Debbarma, MLAs, and party workers.

Speaking at the protest, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya said, “Everyone knows that in Darbhanga, Bihar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is destroying his own party, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, used abusive language against the late mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We strongly condemn this and have launched this protest in response.”

Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also hit out at the opposition, alleging that CPI(M) and Congress leaders have been spreading slander against the Prime Minister and misleading the public. “For the last few days, these parties have been provoking people with false statements. But people of Tripura have faith in BJP because we work for all sections under the guidance of our central leadership. They cannot mislead people with dirty politics as they did in the past,” Chowdhury said.

The BJP leaders vowed to continue their fight against what they described as “malicious propaganda” and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to serve the people of Tripura.
