Manipur: Mahurat Of Shumang Leela Play ‘Thokpa Ngamdaba Kishi’ Held

The ‘Yaipha Thouni Thouram’ (Mahurat) of the new Shumang Leela play Thokpa Ngamdaba Kishi by Peace Maker Artistes’ Association, one of the leading male Shumang Leela groups of Manipur, was held today at the association’s rehearsal hall in Akampat, Imphal East. The script of the play has been penned by noted writer Manaobi MM.

The ceremony was attended by all artistes and orchestra members of the troupe, marking the beginning of rehearsals for the much-anticipated production.

The main roles in the play will be portrayed by acclaimed artistes including Lai Ibotombi, Sorokhaibam Ibohanbi, Naorem Tamphasana, Yumnam Arunkumar, Athokpam Santosh, Sarangthem Henary, and Kshetrimayum Ronaldo. Taking on the female roles are Yumnam Milan, Huirem Bishesh, Senjam Dipson (Pandum), and Wangkhem Sanathoi.

In the music section, Moirangthem Robert (guitar/violin), Seram Romajit (banshi), Laimujam Binoy (tabla), and Laiphrakpam Bobo (keyboard) will provide instrumental support. Playback singing will feature Vicky Likmabam as the female voice and Priyobrata as the male voice.

The Peace Maker Artistes’ Association, known for its powerful performances, expressed confidence that Thokpa Ngamdaba Kishi will resonate strongly with audiences and add to the legacy of Shumang Leela in the state.
