The Department of Agriculture on Monday conducted an awareness-cum-orientation training programme under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme National Mission on Natural Farming for the Mangnam and Sakyur clusters at Lungla.

The programme was attended by ZPM Lungla Thutan Gombu, Gram Chairpersons, PRI members, Gaonburhas, SHG members, Community Resource Persons, and over 100 farmers.

Entomologist K.B. Kayastha from Tawang highlighted the objectives of the mission, stressing the importance of nature-based sustainable farming systems. He emphasized the use of on-farm bio-inputs to reduce dependence on external resources, thereby cutting production costs. Kayastha also explained natural farming practices that improve soil structure, promote crop diversification, and enhance water-holding capacity.

In his address, ZPM Thutan Gombu urged farmers to adopt natural farming methods supported by scientific approaches to ensure sustainability, climate resilience, and safe food production.

An interactive session was also held, during which farmers raised queries on various agricultural practices, making the programme both informative and participatory.
