The Congress on Monday inducted three former Assam legislators — Satyabrat Kalita, Binanda Kumar Saikia, and Manas Singh Rongpi — at Indira Bhawan in New Delhi.
The joining took place in the presence of Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi, AICC general secretary in-charge of Assam Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, and AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal.
Welcoming the new members, Venugopal said their decision to join reflected trust in the Congress ideology and marked a positive development for the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. He described the move as a “clear sign of change” in the state’s political scenario ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.
