Nagaland: Dimapur Declared Non-Attainment City As Pollution Rises 35% Since 2020

Dimapur has been declared a non-attainment city by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) after recording a 35 percent increase in pollution levels between 2020 and 2024.

This was stated by Nodal Officer of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), Yanathung Kithan, during a talk show on air quality in Dimapur on Tuesday. The programme was organised under NCAP to mark the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.

Kithan informed that NCAP is aiming at a 40 percent reduction in air pollution by 2026 and stressed the need for collective action from all sections of society. The event was attended by policymakers, youth, and media representatives who discussed issues related to air quality.
