The flood situation in Manipur continues to remain grim, with large parts of the valley districts, particularly Imphal East and Thoubal, still submerged. In Ukhrul district, incessant rainfall over the past few days triggered landslides, severely disrupting passenger and commercial transportation.

In view of the situation, the State Government has extended the closure of all schools and colleges across the State till today.

Most of the major rivers flowing through the valley districts are running above the warning level. The Thoubal River has overflowed at several points, flooding nearby villages and paddy fields. The Imphal, Iril, and Nambul rivers are also flowing above danger level. The breach along the Iril River in Imphal East district, which occurred yesterday, remains only partially repaired.

Flooding has worsened in Lamlai Assembly Constituency of Imphal East, with water levels continuing to rise in villages and farmlands. Efforts to repair the river banks are still underway.

To regulate water levels, all gates of the Ithai Barrage remain fully opened, while some gates of the Imphal and Thoubal barrages have also been opened. Meanwhile, affected families have taken shelter in relief camps, where authorities are providing essential supplies.
