In a major administrative development, the Arunachal Pradesh government has elevated Dr Naba Kumar Bezbaruah, Professor of Anatomy, to the post of Dean at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun. Along with his new role, he will also serve as the functional Director of the medical college until further orders.

The decision, approved by the departmental promotion committee (DPC) on Wednesday, entrusts Dr Bezbaruah with the responsibility of overseeing academic and institutional supervision at TRIHMS. However, the administrative and financial sanctioning authority will continue to rest with the state health and family welfare secretary.

Dr Bezbaruah’s appointment follows the passing of Professor Dr Shyamal Bhattacharya, the former Dean and Principal of TRIHMS, who succumbed to a prolonged illness earlier this week. The official order of appointment was issued with the Governor’s nod and signed by Health & Family Welfare Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain.
