The Teachers’ and Medical Officers’ Association (TAMOA) has announced the temporary suspension of its agitation at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, with hospital services resuming from 8:00 AM today.

The decision followed a review of suggestions from the RIMS General Body comprising representatives of medical, nursing, non-teaching staff, resident doctors, and students, along with written assurances from authorities. Consideration was also given to the hardships faced by patients during the disruption of healthcare services.

TAMOA clarified that the suspension is interim and depends on the fulfillment of its demands, which include the swift arrest of those who assaulted medical staff, better communication to prevent doctor-patient misunderstandings, legal and cybercrime measures against online slander and threats, deployment of armed security at sensitive RIMS locations, and the creation of a dedicated public relations cell.

The association said the situation will be reviewed after one week to assess compliance with its Charter of Demands. Circulars regarding the decision have been issued to the RIMS Director, Medical Superintendent, IMA MSB, and all affiliated staff and professional bodies.
