Minister Sushanta Chowdhury Urges Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for Greater Support to Tripura’s Tourism

Agartala, September 25, 2025: Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to seek enhanced central support for strengthening Tripura’s tourism sector.

During the meeting, Chowdhury apprised the Union Finance Minister of the ongoing initiatives of the state’s Tourism Department and presented a roadmap of proposed projects aimed at promoting Tripura’s cultural heritage and natural attractions. He urged the Centre to extend financial assistance to ensure timely execution of these projects.

Speaking after the meeting, the Tourism Minister said Sitharaman assured him of “all possible cooperation” in advancing tourism development in the state.

Senior officials, including the Secretary and Director of the Tourism Department, were also present in the discussions. The state government expects that the interaction will pave the way for fresh investment in tourism infrastructure, which it views as a key pillar for boosting economic growth and creating employment opportunities in Tripura.
