Agartala, October 9, 2025: West Bengal Trinamool Congress leaders on Thursday lodged an FIR with the Additional Superintendent of Police at NCC Police Station, demanding the arrest and punishment of those involved in the vandalism of the state Trinamool Congress office within 48 hours. The leaders warned that if prompt action is not taken, they will move the court.
The development comes amid heightened political tension following attacks on BJP MPs and MLAs in North Bengal and subsequent vandalism at the Trinamool Congress office in Agartala. A six-member Trinamool delegation arrived in the state on Wednesday and has since accused the ruling BJP of deteriorating law and order in Tripura.
After filing the FIR, Trinamool leader Kunal Ghosh told reporters, “Trinamool Congress has no connection with the North Bengal incident. Even the Chief Minister went to meet the injured there. But here, despite the attack on our party office, no arrests have been made. The entire incident took place in front of the police, yet they remained silent.”
Another leader, Sudip Raha, pointed out that while Bengal police have already arrested four people in connection with the Nagrakata attack, Tripura police have failed to act in the Agartala vandalism case.
The delegation also reminded that no arrests have been made even after four years in the attack on Abhishek Banerjee’s convoy during his Tripura visit.
Meanwhile, MP Sushmita Dev stated that during a press conference, a Tripura BJP spokesperson openly admitted to vandalizing AITC posters and banners. “If the culprits are not arrested immediately, we will approach the court,” she warned.
According to the FIR signed by Trinamool’s Dhalai District President Suman De, eight individuals Jhantu Saha, Nakul Debnath, Kanai Saha, Ramu Saha, Premchand Pal, Suman Ganguly, Ajay Das and Ramu Das along with several BJP workers and supporters, have been named in connection with the incident.
