At least 2,332 people have tested positive for dengue in Manipur so far this year, while one patient has succumbed to the vector-borne disease, according to an official report.
The cases were recorded between January 1 and October 11, after testing 5,613 individuals for the infection. The latest figures mark a sharp rise of 979 cases compared to the same period last year, when 1,353 cases were reported.
Imphal West district accounted for the highest number of infections with 1,679 cases, followed by 363 in Imphal East. Bishnupur and Thoubal districts reported 68 and 63 cases respectively, while the lone dengue-related death occurred in Bishnupur district.
Among the hill districts, Senapati reported 45 cases, followed by 23 in Ukhrul, three in Churachandpur, and two in Kangpokpi, the report stated.
