Agartala, October 13, 2025: In a major breakthrough against narcotics smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura, in a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Agartala, seized a massive consignment of Yaba tablets worth approximately ₹16 crore from the Boxanagar border area under Sepahijala district. One person has been detained in connection with the case.
According to BSF officials, acting on specific intelligence regarding illegal drug storage, a special joint operation was launched at the residence of Lipiyara Khatun (33), wife of Amal Hussain, a resident of Madhya Boxanagar, under Kalamchoura Police Station. The operation was carried out between 11:10 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. on the intervening night of October 12 and 13, 2025.
During the search, security personnel recovered 16 packets wrapped in brown tape, buried inside the kitchen area of the house. Upon opening the packets, they found approximately 16 kilograms of Yaba tablets, estimated to contain around 1.6 lakh tablets in total. The seized narcotics are valued at about ₹16 crore in the illicit market.
Lipiyara Khatun was detained at the spot for interrogation and subsequent legal action. The recovered narcotics and the detained individual were later handed over to NCB Agartala for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Officials said the operation highlights the BSF’s unwavering commitment to combating cross-border smuggling and drug trafficking in coordination with sister agencies, thereby ensuring the security and safety of citizens in Tripura’s border regions.
