Singapore Police to Meet Assam Counterparts on Oct 21 in Zubeen Garg Death Case, Confirms CM Himanta

The investigation into the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg is moving forward, with Singapore Police authorities scheduled to meet the Assam Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) on October 21. The meeting will be led by SIT head and ADGP Munna Gupta, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed.

Announcing the development on X, CM Sarma described the meeting as a significant step toward ensuring justice for the late singer and reaffirmed the government’s commitment, stating that justice for Zubeen will be achieved.

A day earlier, Singapore’s Acting High Commissioner Alice Cheng met CM Sarma and conveyed condolences from the Singapore government. She said Garg’s autopsy report and preliminary findings had already been handed over to the Indian High Commission in Singapore on October 1 by the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

The High Commission, in an official statement on X, noted that the SPF continues to investigate the case diligently and urged the people of Assam to remain patient as the investigation proceeds.

Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19, reportedly while swimming, a day before his scheduled performance at the Northeast India Festival. The accused in the case include event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma, suspended APS officer Sandipan Garg, and two PSOs—Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya.
