Assam: Suspected ULFA-I Militants Attack Army Base In Tinsukia

A tense situation unfolded in Kakopathar area of Assam’s Tinsukia district after suspected ULFA (Independent) militants launched a midnight attack on an Indian Army base late Thursday.

The assault, which began around 12:30 AM, involved intense gunfire and grenade explosions, with militants reportedly using Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL) and automatic rifles. The exchange of fire lasted nearly thirty minutes before the attackers fled under cover of darkness.

Three Army personnel sustained injuries during the attack. In response, security forces have launched extensive search and combing operations in nearby villages to apprehend the militants. Officials described the incident as a serious escalation of militant activities in upper Assam.
