The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reviewed the progress of the 150-bed Critical Care Block (CCB) currently under construction at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
Dr. Manashvi Kumar, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, visited the construction site on Friday to assess the ongoing work and implementation status of the project. The CCB is being developed under the Pradhan Mantri – Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) scheme of the Central Government.
During the visit, Dr. Kumar interacted with officials and engineers overseeing the project and emphasized the importance of timely completion to strengthen critical healthcare infrastructure in the state. The upcoming facility, once completed, will play a pivotal role in enhancing intensive care and emergency response capabilities, not only for Manipur but also for the wider Northeastern region.
The Critical Care Block is expected to provide advanced medical facilities, including ICU units, specialized treatment sections, and modern diagnostic equipment, thereby significantly improving the region’s capacity to manage critical health emergencies.
