Agartala, October 18, 2025: Tripura marked a significant achievement in tribal development by earning multiple national accolades at the National Conclave on Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, held Friday at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Hosted by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs as part of the Viksit Bharat initiative, the event was presided over by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and attended by key dignitaries including Union Tribal Affairs Minister Shri Jual Oram and Minister of State Durgadas Uikey. The Conclave honored exemplary contributions to tribal governance nationwide, spotlighting top performers under flagship programs such as PM-JANMAN, Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA), and Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan.
Tripura was conferred with two prestigious national awards—Best Performing State in the implementation of PM-JANMAN and Best Performing State in the implementation of Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan. These awards were received by Dr. K. Sasikumar, IFS, Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, from the Hon’ble President. North Tripura District was also honoured as the Best Performing District under PM-JANMAN, with Chandni Chandran, IAS, District Magistrate and Collector, receiving the award. Further, Gomati District was recognized for its exemplary performance in both Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan and Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, while Unakoti and Dhalai Districts earned national acclaim for their outstanding contributions under DAJA.
These accolades reflect the unwavering commitment of the Government of Tripura to inclusive tribal development and grassroots empowerment. Under PM-JANMAN, the State has completed the construction of 15,584 houses, with 1,632 more underway; operationalized 141 new Anganwadi Centres; provided functional tap water connections to 38,014 PVTG households; electrified 11,692 households through grid connectivity and 1,051 through solar grids; installed 10 mobile network towers; constructed 18 Multipurpose Centres with 32 more in progress; formed and operationalized 30 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras; and initiated construction of 67 roads covering 205 kilometers.
The Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, launched on 15th June 2025 as part of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, stands as India’s largest tribal empowerment campaign. Tripura’s saturation camp model has been particularly impactful, with 4,036 camps engaging over 12.7 lakh participants. The campaign addressed critical needs such as identity documentation, financial inclusion, health coverage, and access to social welfare benefits. To ensure district-level momentum, the Hon’ble Chief Minister designated one Minister as Prabhari for each district, fostering coordinated and responsive implementation.
The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, conceptualized under the guidance of the Prime Minister, represents a paradigm shift in tribal governance. Anchored in the values of Sewa, Samarpan, and Sankalp, the initiative empowers communities across 392 tribal-dominated revenue villages in Tripura to co-create their own development plans. It marks a transition from scheme delivery to citizen-led planning, enabling collaborative governance between citizens, institutions, and the State.
Tripura’s success at the National Conclave is a testament to the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister and the dedicated efforts of the Chief Secretary, Secretaries, Heads of Departments, District Magistrates, and field-level officers. Their collective resolve and tireless work have positioned Tripura as a national exemplar in tribal welfare. This recognition not only celebrates past achievements but also inspires continued commitment to dignity, inclusion, and transformative development for every tribal citizen.
