Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday addressed the 38th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Nagaland State Branch, and paid tribute to the late President and former Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, who passed away on August 15, 2025.

Rio commended Ganesan’s dedication to humanitarian causes, noting that his leadership continues to inspire the Red Cross movement in Nagaland. He highlighted the branch’s efforts in providing relief to vulnerable communities, promoting health and hygiene, conducting blood donation drives, strengthening disaster response, and extending aid to remote areas of the state.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged Akhale Vizol Khamo, General Secretary of the Nagaland State Branch, for her recognition with the National Indian Red Cross Society Award Certificate of Appreciation for Women 2022-23, calling it a testament to the branch’s collective service.

Rio urged all members and volunteers to continue working towards expanding humanitarian outreach, strengthening local branches, and involving more youth in Red Cross activities.
