Agartala, October 25, 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday alleged that the so-called civil society movement in Tripura, led by one individual, has turned into an armed agitation under the guise of a peaceful protest, revealing its true nature before the people.

Speaking at a joining programme organized by the BJP’s Krishnapur Mandal in the Mungiakami area of Khowai district, where 6,400 voters joined the BJP, Dr. Saha reiterated that the state government would ensure the development of the janajati community without any compromise.

“Today, 6,400 voters have joined the BJP. You have taken the right decision at the right time. Without the BJP, neither the TTAADC nor the state or country can progress in the right direction,” he said.

Referring to the recent bandh-related violence, Dr. Saha alleged that those claiming to lead peaceful protests were the same people who attacked BJP workers and government officials during previous party events. “They assaulted our BDO, engineer, SDPO, and workers with sticks and rods — is this a peaceful movement?” he questioned.

The Chief Minister also claimed that attempts were made to threaten people ahead of the Mungiakami event. “They told people that national parties like BJP won’t be allowed in ADC areas. But BJP can go anywhere in the country — no one can stop us,” he asserted, warning that such tactics would not succeed for long.

Highlighting the BJP’s respect for Tripura’s royal heritage, Dr. Saha recalled that the party named the Agartala airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and declared his birth anniversary, August 19, a state holiday.

Dr. Saha also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing tribal welfare, including increasing the honorarium for janajati leaders and appointing officers at the sub-district and district levels to oversee tribal development schemes.

BJP State President and MP Rajib Bhattacharya, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, former MP Rebati Tripura, and other senior leaders were also present at the programme.
