Agartala, October 29, 2025: In the backdrop of growing factionalism within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura and rising strains with its ally Tipra Motha, the party held a crucial closed-door meeting at its state headquarters in Agartala on Wednesday.
The high-level review meeting was chaired by BJP North East Coordinator and MP Sambit Patra, and attended by party in-charge Rajdeep Roy, state president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, ministers, MLAs and key office bearers. The meeting focused on consolidating the organisation ahead of the upcoming TTAADC and Village Committee elections, where Tipra Motha’s influence in tribal areas is expected to play a decisive role.

According to party sources, leaders deliberated on internal coordination, addressing organisational shortcomings, and recalibrating strategies to strengthen the alliance framework with Tipra Motha.
Speaking to the media personnel after the meeting, BJP Tripura President Rajib Bhattacharjee said the central leadership’s visit was aimed at boosting organisational activities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaigns, as well as preparations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31.

He said discussions were also held on the recent unrest that followed a civil society-led strike. “All senior leaders, including the Chief Minister and former Chief Minister, have condemned the incidents. Unity is essential for building a ‘Srestha Tripura’. The development of both tribal and non-tribal communities remains our top priority,” he stated.
Bhattacharjee confirmed that talks with Tipra Motha will continue at regular intervals to ensure coordination and address any outstanding issues within the alliance.
