Peren District Emerges Champion At Nagaland’s First State-Level Wushu Meet

The inaugural state-level sub-junior, junior, and senior Wushu (Sanda) Championship, organized by the Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, concluded yesterday at the Pele Khezhie Indoor Stadium, Kohima.

A total of 93 athletes from across the state competed in the two-day event, marking a milestone for the promotion of Wushu in Nagaland. Peren district clinched the Group Championship title, while Kohima district was adjudged the Best Disciplined Team.

Gracing the prize distribution ceremony, Advisor for CAWD and Taxes and President of NWA, Kudecho Khamo, lauded the athletes for their spirited participation. He emphasized that sports today offer vast career opportunities and urged young competitors to remain dedicated, disciplined, and focused in their pursuit of excellence.

The championship, the first of its kind in Nagaland, was aimed at providing a platform for budding athletes to showcase their skills and prepare for higher-level competitions. Organizers expressed optimism that the event would help strengthen the state’s presence in national and international Wushu circuits.
