Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh, paid a one-day official visit to Mizoram on Wednesday to review the implementation of Central government schemes and strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) presence in the state.

During an interaction with the media at the BJP Mizoram State Office, Singh said the Central Government is making consistent efforts to ensure that welfare programmes and development initiatives reach the grassroots level. He highlighted that special emphasis is being placed on youth engagement, innovation, and entrepreneurship through various science and technology initiatives.

Speaking about the transformation of the Northeast under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh said the region has witnessed unprecedented development. He noted that the transition from the “Look East Policy” to the “Act East Policy” demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and promoting inclusive growth.

The Union Minister described BJP-led northeastern states as successful examples of the “Double Engine Government” model, ensuring faster progress through coordinated efforts between the Centre and state governments. He cited Assam and Arunachal Pradesh as examples of visible transformation under BJP governance.

Referring to the ongoing Dampa bye-election, Singh said the contest holds importance for the BJP, and he has joined the campaign to strengthen the party’s position. Senior BJP leaders from Assam and Nagaland have also extended their support to the campaign.

He added that if the BJP candidate wins, the party will focus on result-oriented governance from November 14 instead of making frequent announcements. Singh reiterated the Modi Government’s commitment to the development of all states and stressed that effective coordination between state and central administrations is crucial for successful implementation of welfare schemes.
