State Government Spokesperson and Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, K.G. Kenye, has stated that the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act was introduced with good intentions for the welfare and benefit of the people. However, he acknowledged that its implementation did not resonate well with the public.

Addressing media persons in Kohima on Thursday, Kenye said the issue continues to draw mixed reactions and that, after observing public sentiment, the government believes it may be appropriate to leave the matter to the will of the people. Describing the NLTP Act as a people-centric issue, he remarked that the final decision on its future should rest with the majority.

He also urged the media to play a proactive role in presenting balanced public opinions from all sections of society.
